Premonitions of Greatness
My futile examination of IT...
As my niece and nephew enter the Rainey Institute this summer, I sense that my niece will be more engrossed than my nephew. He too is the creative type, however, he is more hands-on than emotive. My little niece is a drama queen! She has been involved in character development since the tender age of nine months- naughty little dove! I believe whole-heartedly that she could be someone for Dakota Fanning to reckon with- let us not fib...maybe Shirley Temple. That Dakota is otherworldy...like that big-eyed fellow from the Sixth Sense (1999)...oh! one could do three entire entries on spooky children.
But how do we know that certain children are destined for greatness? With my niece we just know like we know there is a King James version or a Vulgate in all our friends' homes. My godsister's husband (I refer to her as my cousin) acted as an assistant coach and mentor to Cleveland's own 'King James' at one time. LeBron was very young then, but still remains close to my cousin's family. He claims that he has maybe heard a few hundred boys say they wanted to be a professional ballplayer, but he only believed three- and one was LeBron. "Was it the way he handled the ball?" "No..." "His self-discipline, his determination?" "Nope." "Then what was it about him that made you believe he could do it?" "It was some kinda intuition.." he finally said. "When he said it, it rang in my ears like it was going to definitely happen."
I observe and interact with my nieces, nephews and godchilden a great deal; children are our future and one does not want to be left behind! I am blessed to behold the shaping of their personalities and quirks; likes and don't likes and I know that there are three singer/dancers, three actors, two attorneys, a CEO, a politician and a future goddess already in the bunch. That 'CEO' needs to stop picking on her older brother though, it's unbecoming. I am truly joking- not really- but I do know...I just know (call it a predetermined definite) that my niece I spoke of earlier WILL be a very talented actress. Let's hope whether she is Indie or Box Office, she is happy.
M.~ assures you, dear readers, that she has not taken to whispering in the children's ears while they are sleeping "be great". I am not a stage aunt.
